Lochee Sculpture

A statue paying tribute to Dundee’s jute workers was unveiled in Lochee, the heart of the old mill area.

The Jute Women sculpture features two life-sized figures – a weaver and a half-timer child – alongside a rolled steel screen with traditional songs from the mills etched into its design.

The sculpture was designed by Scottish artist Malcolm Robertson. The statues themselves have been formed out of bronze while the accompanying screen was made from corten weathering steel.
